In memoriam Lutgard Gerber-Billiau

Lutgard Gerber-Billiau

With heavy hearts and loving memories, members yesterday unfolded and hung Lutgard's quilts for Q.Art Belgium’s exhibition in Essen, Belgium. Lutgard’s long struggle with cancer is over. Leading the Belgian National Guild as President for many years and long-time SAQA member, Lutgard was also a founding member of Q.Art Belgium 16 years ago. We miss our colleague & caring, warm friend so very much. We hope our exhibition will be a tribute to a wonderful woman, a fine artist and a great friend. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Lutgard was the moderator of SAQA's regional yahoo-group for several years, which she only gave up a few weeks ago. Our grateful thoughts and wishes are extended to her family in this sad time.

Gallerribba - an online gallery for small art for the wall

Galleribba is an international online gallery for small art for the wall. It has 42 members and new members are joining on a regular base.

I started Galleribba in June 2012. My intention was to try it for a year and see how it would go. It turned out to be very successful and quite a few sales have been made. What I like about Galleribba is that we have a mixture of well-known fiber artists and relative beginners, many of them SAQA members.

My first idea was to make a gallery with small works that would fit the Ikea Ribba frames, hence the name ‘Galleribba’, but this would have been too restricting for the artists.
The maximum size for work on Galleribba is 30 cm on either side. It can be matted, on a canvas, with a hanging sleeve, framed or any other way of displaying it on the wall.

Members have their own gallery page showing their work and at the bottom visitors of the gallery can find their website and email address. Should anyone be interested in buying a piece or for any other information, they can contact the artist for further details.

If you want to know more about Galleribba you can contact me.
