FIBER ART ITALIANA

Tra questi artisti ricordiamo Paola Besana, Maria Lai, Maria Luisa Sponga, Lydia Predominato, Roberta Chioni, Eva Basile, DAMSS e tanti altri ancora.

At a time when textile art is having a wider diffusion and valorization in the field of art in Italy and in the world, here is published a book on Italian Fiber Art by Renata Pompas entitled "FIBER ART ITALIANA. A virtuous intertwining ".
In recent years we have seen a flourish of textile art exhibitions starting from the 54th Venice Biennale of Art in 2017 to the banner of Fiber Art, to get to Rome, Como, Milan, Turin and so on.
What is Fiber Art? The definition given by the author of the book is as follows; "Fiber Art, a current of contemporary art that accumulates research based on practices and / or textile materials, taken in the material declinations or in their conceptual representations. Born in the Sixties and Seventies Fiber Art has always acted in a small and sophisticated niche of the art market, even if at a world level, and this has meant that it has not obtained an institutional recognition of its specificity by that international microsociety that determines the finance of the artistic market, remaining so unknown to the general public. "
A book that for the first time reconstructs the history of the Italian movement and the debate on its definition, placing the Italian Fiber Art in the international and national context, with the reporting of the main exhibitions held in Europe and in Italy.
The heart of the book consists of about sixty cards with numerous color images dedicated to the founding artists and the next generation. A thorough and exciting reconstruction that finally allows us to outline, make known and appreciate an artistic movement in which the idea has never prevailed over the work, the concept of realization, but importance has also been given to doing, to the subject, to the research of beauty and sensory involvement.
The cards are dedicated to the founding artists, coming both from the polymateriality of the artistic expressions and from the high craftsmanship, who have woven their artistic journeys together in the promotion and diffusion of the movement. Among these artists we mention Paola Besana, Maria Lai, Maria Luisa Sponga, Lydia Predominato, Roberta Chioni, Eva Basile, DAMSS and many others.
