As is customary with the European Patchwork Meeting, we have scheduled a SAQA meet and greet for all SAQA members who will be present in the Val d'argent. The meeting is supposed to take place on Friday, September 18, at 12.30, at the Espace de Presse.
However, if you want to take part, you need to register with the rep! Send an e-mail to Uta Lenk (click on the 'submission guidelines' on the right hand bar for the address) and let her know that you would like to attend. There are still a few places open. But: SAQA members only, no partners, friends or dogs...
And: we still need people to staff the table at the SAQA exhibition. Please let Uta know if you could spare a couple of hours (and rest your feet) to represent SAQA in the context of the exhibition. You will receive a free copy of the catalogue for sale in return for your help. Thank you very much!

SAQA President will be teaching in Ste. Marie-aux-Mines in September
SAQA's current president, Kris Sazaki and Deb Cashatt, who together are also known as the Pixeladies,
will be teaching their class on mastering the tricks of Photoshop Elements at the European Patchwork Meeting in Ste. Marie-aux-Mines in September.
This is what they have to say about the class:

This is what they have to say about the class:
Hi European SAQA Members!
We, the Pixeladies, are so excited that we
are coming to the European Patchwork Meeting this fall. We will be teaching “10 Great Reasons for
Fiber Artists to Use Photoshop.” We hope you
can join us in class.
Some of you might already know that we
design most of our work on the computer. Here is a photo of our 2015 SAQA
Benefit Auction piece. We photographed a pair of red pumps and then manipulated
them in the computer to abstract a pattern. We did collage the piece the
old-fashioned way with paper, scissors, and glue, but then we scanned it back
into the computer for final touch ups and to print the piece onto fabric.
Abstracting a pattern is one of things
we’ll show you how to do in class. You’ll also learn the absolute essentials:
create a watermark, resize a photo for submission, straighten images, and more.
The nice part about teaching in person (apart from the fact that we will be
teaching in FRANCE!!) is that we can look over your shoulders and into your
eyes to see what’s going on. We both speak German, but unfortunately neither
Deb’s two years of college French nor Kris’ conversational Spanish is good
enough for us to teach. But in any language, you’re sure to learn these
essential Photoshop tasks.
The materials list is easy: laptop
computer* with a version of Photoshop (CS 2 or later) or Photoshop Elements
(version 10 or later) already installed. We will demonstrate using PSE 13, but
we can usually “translate” for your particular version.
If you can’t take the class but are
planning to attend the European Patchwork Meeting, please join us at the SAQA
reception on September 18 at 12:30 pm.
*This class does not support the use of
tablets such as iPads. Their PS apps do not have the functionality we need for
this class.
