A Secret Garden |
For many years, Hildegard has dealt with fabric as basic material as it offers diverse, creative possibilities from coloring to shaping of three-dimensional structures to the insertion of text or non-textile elements.
She started making traditional-style quilts, but then she learned more and more dyeing and construction techniques and developed her own style to create art quilts. She mainly hand-dyes the materials for her work, fabrics like cotton, satin, velvet or silk, as well as different types of paper and most of the yarns are also hand-dyed.
She likes to create several works on one topic, so “Pas de Deux” shows a variety of diptychs, created with hand-dyed materials and various techniques. Her works are inspired by impressions from nature and the environment.
